TAX RATES

Bosque County Appraisal District assesses the total value of property in Bosque County each year. Once the assessed value is determined it is conveyed to the Bosque County Tax Assessor Collector and the Bosque County Commissioners Court. The Commissioners Court sets the annual budget and then sets the tax rate based upon the required funds to operate the county. The tax rate determines how much revenue will be available to the county from property taxes. Property taxes are the main source of funds for the county, comprising nearly 80% of the total revenue received. Other revenues from fines, fees, sales taxes and grants are considered during the budgeting process and help offset the amount of property taxes assessed. The county is one of eighteen entities that receive revenues from property taxes and a breakdown of each entity and the amount of property taxes allocated can be seen below:
